VIDEO: Arval UK electric fleet passes 63,000 vehicles as BEV adoption accelerates

Arval UK now has more than 63,000 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) on its leased fleet, with electric models accounting for around 30% of the total, according to its latest Sustainability Report.

The leasing and mobility specialist recorded a 16% increase in BEVs during 2025 compared with the previous year, highlighting the continuing shift towards electrification among UK fleets.

Arval UK also reported a 38% reduction in average theoretical tailpipe CO2 emissions across its fleet, exceeding its global 30% reduction target a year ahead of schedule.

The company’s own fleet has moved even further towards electrification. BEVs now represent 88% of company vehicles, up from 81% a year earlier, while every new employee vehicle order placed during 2025 was fully electric.

The figures provide an indication of how quickly electrification is becoming embedded in fleet operations, although supporting drivers through the transition remains an important part of the process. During the year, Arval launched a driver safety and efficient driving video specifically for BEV users.

Safety performance across its wider leased fleet also improved, with the liable accident rate falling by 22% in 2025 compared with its 2020 baseline.

Beyond vehicle emissions, Arval reported a 44% year-on-year reduction in absolute energy consumption across its UK offices and a 59% reduction in operational carbon emissions, including business travel, compared with 2019.

Its sustainability programme earned the company an EcoVadis Platinum medal during the year, placing it among the top 1% of companies assessed globally.

Zoe Maitland, Head of Sustainability at Arval UK, said the report helped demonstrate the company’s sustainability progress to stakeholders, while CEO and Managing Director Lakshmi Moorthy said sustainability was influencing how the business grows and operates.

The report also points to sustainability becoming more closely integrated with fleet strategy beyond vehicle choice, encompassing areas including driver behaviour and safety, energy consumption, operational emissions and workforce policies.

The growth in Arval’s BEV portfolio provides further evidence of the transition towards electric company vehicles moving from early adoption towards increasingly mainstream fleet deployment.
