Fleet electrification helps Corps Security achieve Platinum carbon certification

Corps Security has achieved Platinum certification from Neutral Carbon Zone (NCZ), marking a significant milestone in its decarbonisation journey and highlighting the growing impact of fleet electrification on organisational emissions.

The security services provider reported a total carbon footprint of 6,184.85 tCO₂e for 2025, representing a 19% reduction compared with 2024. The achievement upgrades the company from Gold to Platinum status in its third year working with the independent carbon assessment body.

A key driver behind the reduction was the continued transition of Corps Security’s fleet to electric vehicles. Scope one emissions (covering direct emissions such as company vehicles) fell by 35%, with company car emissions alone dropping by nearly 39%.

For fleet managers across both public and private sectors, the results underline the measurable impact that electrification strategies can have on overall carbon performance, particularly as transport remains a major contributor to Scope one emissions.

Beyond fleet changes, the organisation also recorded a 94% reduction in Scope two emissions following a shift to renewable electricity, while Scope three emissions fell by 18%, reflecting improvements in areas such as commuting, procurement and supply chain activity.

Importantly, emissions intensity also improved. Carbon output per £1 million of turnover fell by over 29%, even as the business increased revenue by more than 14%, demonstrating that emissions reduction can be achieved alongside organisational growth.

NCZ certification is based on comprehensive carbon reporting aligned with recognised standards including the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and ISO 14064-1, covering Scope one, two and three emissions.

Sharon McLaren, Quality and Compliance Manager at Corps Security, said the certification reflects a sustained, organisation-wide effort. “This Platinum certification reflects the commitment of our people and the progress we are making on our sustainability journey,” she said.

Looking ahead, NCZ has identified further opportunities for improvement, including enhanced fuel and energy data collection, deeper supply chain analysis and improved commuting data.

For fleet leaders, the case reinforces a broader trend: vehicle strategy is now central to carbon management, with electrification, data visibility and operational efficiency playing a critical role in meeting sustainability targets.
