The 2024 European Championships are just around the corner, and with Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate naming his provisional 33-man squad, our England stars will have their eyes firmly set on the prize: 14 July’s final at Berlin’s Olympiastadion.
It’s a huge summer ahead for England, with Southgate’s contract set to expire after the tournament and an uncertain future lying beyond. One thing’s for sure, however, these lads LOVE a flashy set of wheels.
Whether it’s the timeless class of Harry Kane’s Bentley Continental or the sporty style of Kyle Walker’s Lamborghini Huracan, our nation’s top footballers are some real petrol heads. Here, Anglo Scottish, which brokers hire purchase agreements for some of the world’s top footballers, reveals their starting XI of England stars and the cars they drive…
GK: Jordan Pickford – Lamborghini Urus
Everton keeper Jordan Pickford was the hero for England at World Cup 2018, and is something of a veteran in this year’s lineup. Pickford is the owner of a blacked-out Lamborghini Urus, the Italian carmaker’s first modern venture into the world of SUVs and a popular model amongst England’s footballing elite.
RB: Kyle Walker – Lamborghini Huracan
Whether Southgate opts for the flair and finesse of Trent Alexander-Arnold or the explosive pace of Kyle Walker, one thing’s for sure – Walker’s collection of cars is second to none. The speedster’s garage is home to a stunning Lamborghini Huracan, as well as a Bentley Bentayga, showing he loves a sports car as much as a prestigious SUV.
RCB: John Stones – Rolls-Royce Cullinan
Manchester City’s John Stones is one of the first names on the teamsheet at this point, a Rolls-Royce of a centre-back with the wheels to match. His Rolls-Royce Cullinan is one of the most prestigious cars in the squad, oozing class and style.
LCB: Marc Guehi – Mercedes-Benz AMG A45S
With England mainstay Harry Maguire ruled out through injury and Southgate favouring Ezri Konsa as a full-back, expect Crystal Palace’s uber-talented Marc Guehi to capably step in at centre-half. Guehi was spotted signing shirts for Palace fans from behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz AMG A45S, one of Mercedes’ sportier models.
LB: Luke Shaw – Lamborghini Urus
Struggles with injury haven’t changed the fact that Luke Shaw is England’s most capable left-back, though he’s facing a race against time to recover from his latest muscle injury, which has kept him sidelined since February. Shaw is another high-profile Urus owner, famously racking up a number of parking fines with it. If he’s unable to get fit ahead of the Euros, it’s a selection headache for Southgate at left-back.
CDM: Declan Rice – Range Rover Sport
One of the signings of the season, Declan Rice has played a vital part in helping Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal team push Manchester City to the final day. He’ll be hoping to go one step further this summer in Germany and grab himself a bit more silverware for his collection! His car of choice is the Range Rover Sport – functional, stylish and classy.
CM: Jude Bellingham – BMW XM
The all-electric BMW XM is the car of choice for Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham, who was gifted the car as a result of his club’s partnership with the German carmaker. Boasting a hefty 653hp and a price tag to match, the XM pairs pace and power with technical finesse – much like the man himself!
CAM: Phil Foden – Toyota Vellfire
As well as a Mercedes S-Class and AMG GLE 53 SUV, the ‘Stockport Iniesta’s car collection contains a Toyota Vellfire, a full-size six-seater van suitable for the whole family. Fresh off the best season of his career to date, it’s no surprise that the England superstar would want a more understated car in his collection to maintain a little inconspicuousness.
LW: Anthony Gordon – Mercedes G63 AMG
With England mainstays Raheem Sterling and Marcus Rashford missing out on the squad, this could be the time to shine for Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon, who looks set to make his major tournament debut. Gordon is the owner of a Mercedes G63 AMG – aka the G-Wagon – which almost landed him in hot water earlier this season with a driving ban!
ST: Harry Kane – Bentley Continental GT
Though he’s left British shores to ply his trade at German giants Bayern Munich, Harry Kane’s car collection shows off a penchant for British design excellence. Alongside a classic range Rover and Jaguar F-Pace, Kane’s collection is home to a Bentley Continental GT, worth £212,000!
RW: Bukayo Saka – Mercedes G63 AMG
Arsenal starboy Bukayo Saka is another footballer who favours the chunky Mercedes G-Class. Boasting a massive 585hp and price tag from £133,500 upwards, it’s a prestigious set of wheels for a prestigious player with a huge tournament ahead.
Dan Reavley, Head of Motor Finance at Anglo Scottish, comments: “Many footballers tend to gravitate towards strong SUV silhouettes like the Mercedes G-Class or Range Rover, but the introduction of the Lamborghini Urus in 2018 saw the combination of sports car stylings and the power and function of an SUV.
“Since then, it’s been hugely popular among our footballing clientele. We’re already keeping an eye on production of the forthcoming Lamborghini Lanzador, slated for 2028.”
