CASE STUDY: Trakm8 delivers for Pendragon

960 640 Guest Post

As part of the UK’s leading automotive retail group, Pendragon Vehicle Management (a subsidiary of Pendragon Plc), is keenly aware of the importance of effective fleet management.

An established industry leader for more than 30 years, Pendragon Vehicle Management provides a suite of fleet-focused services to its varied client base, including dedicated account management, an online driver centre and a variety of Fleet Funding options, including contract hire, sale/leaseback and contract purchase.

No stranger to the telematics market, Pendragon Vehicle Management recognised a growing need among its customers for insights that went beyond just vehicle tracking. Identifying that requirement was what first led Pendragon to Trakm8, the UK’s leading telematics solutions provider.

Tony Nicholson, New Business National Account Manager at Pendragon Vehicle Management, takes up the story: “For our customers, vehicle assets are the lifeblood that powers their business, and as such, they want to make sure that their fleets are working as efficiently as possible, and delivering maximum return on investment.

“While the basic telematics provision of vehicle tracking is obviously a critically important consideration for fleet managers, tracking alone doesn’t provide enough insights to truly amplify efficiency, productivity and cost-effectiveness across fleets.

“Our customers increasingly need solutions that give them a deep-dive, holistic insight into vehicle health, provide ergonomic route planning and monitor driver behaviour, identifying possible training opportunities. Knowing Trakm8 could deliver all of these, and more, in one, data-rich package made them our ideal telematics partner.

“Since coming on board, Trakm8 has helped us revolutionise our telematics offering for customers, enabling Pendragon to become even more reactive and intuitive to its needs. One such example can be found in our work with one of Britain’s largest household goods retailers, which maintain a fleet of more than 400 vehicles.

“The business was seeking to streamline the fuel expenditure across its fleet. Working with Trakm8, we were able to develop an app-based platform for the organisation, which tracked fuel consumption against driver behaviour, enabling the business to then provide bespoke, fuel efficient-centred training to the drivers.

“Without the access to that data, provided by Trakm8 technology, we simply wouldn’t have been able to deliver such a service. Across the board, Trakm8’s data-led approach has allowed us to be more consultative with clients; an important consideration at a time when fleet managers are becoming ever more risk averse. Technology that can alert to potential problem point, be it vehicular health or driver behaviour, to vehicle cameras that provide invaluable evidence in the result of an accident, are proving to deliver fleet managers valuable peace of mind, and it’s fantastic that we can offer that to our customers, via our relationship with Trakm8.”

Chris Horbowyj, Channel Sales Director at Trakm8 (pictured), added: “It’s fantastic to be able to provide our technology to an organisation with such a widely recognised brand as Pendragon. Working with such a wide variety of well-known clients, Pendragon needed a solution that was the right fit for the diverse needs of their customer base; we’re delighted our data led insights are helping Pendragon deliver for their clients, and look forward to continuing our relationship with them.”

Britain’s foremost vehicle technology specialist, Trakm8, will continue to supply its innovative telematics solutions to leading energy supplier E.ON; as part of a new agreement that further bolsters the decade-long relationship between the two businesses.

The fresh contract will see Trakm8 upgrade the tracking and driver behaviour technology it provides to E.ON’s fleet of LCVs, which comprises some 2,100 vehicles.

Having previously used Trakm8’s T8 devices, E.ON will further enhance its fleet operation with Trakm8 Connect 500 devices, providing unparalleled insights into key metrics such as vehicle tracking, identifying the best means of asset utilisation and helping E.ON’s fleet deliver maximum ROI; and driver behaviour, to ensure drivers are operating safely and fuel efficiently.

Ellie Barnes, senior contract manager at E.ON, said: “For any fleet manager, knowing the whereabouts of your vehicles – and knowing that they are being driven safely and sustainably – is a critical consideration. That’s why innovative technology, such as that offered by Trakm8, is so important for delivering valuable peace of mind.

“Trakm8’s telematics solutions fit seamlessly into our wider fleet operation, providing all of the insights we need to best manage our vehicles at just the touch of a button. The past decade has been a fantastic learning curve into how telematics and smart data can drive significant benefits for a business of our size, and we’re looking forward to building on that further as part of our new contract agreement.”

Free route optimisation tool from Trakm8 during crisis

960 640 Stuart O'Brien

Trakm8, the UK’s recognised leader in the field of telematics, is making its Insight Optimisation platform free for as long as the Government lockdown persists, to support fleets of all sizes during the COVID-19 crisis. Trakm8’s solution is a British designed and built SaaS product, developed to support British business and is aimed at small and medium sized enterprises (SME).

The global pandemic has resulted in demand spikes throughout a number of supply chains, from personal protective equipment to grocery items; once commonplace but now scarce.

In such an environment and with demand at record levels, maintaining and improving the efficiency of operations through AI based route planning becomes paramount.  The task is increasingly complex as deliveries have to respond to obscure and localised spikes in demand that are hard to predict. Furthermore, as economies across the globe artificially slow down to halt the spread of COVID-19, Trakm8 wants to support transport providers through this challenging period by providing free access to its latest optimisation tool.  This will ensure that business are best placed to bounce back when the market restrictions are lifted.

Insight Optimisation is Trakm8’s intuitive route planning solution which uses big data to handle even the most complex fleet requirements. It’s proven to cut fuel expenditure by up to 20% and increase productivity by up to 33%. Maximising the concept of useable data, rather than planning a simple A to B route, Insight Optimisation takes into account the size and capabilities of your fleet and applies them efficiently to the task at hand, whether that’s five or five thousand deliveries a day.

The free period of Trakm8’s incredibly simple to use tool can be redeemed at any point during the government lockdown, with no contractual obligations thereafter. Insight Optimisation works with almost every available computer system – all you need to get started with its web-based portal is an up-to-date internet browser. The only file a fleet manager will need to upload is a csv, which you’re able to open in any text editor or spreadsheet tool.

Commenting on the offer, Peter Mansfield, Group Sales and Marketing Director at Trakm8, said: “At critical moments like these, it’s paramount that supply chains keep moving and goods get where they need to be. Supply chains and the logistics professionals are just as integral as our treasured NHS staff in keeping our country moving, and they need extra support.

“By making our market-leading route planning product free to anyone who needs it, we hope to provide some extra support to those on the front line.  We are proud to be a British business supporting our country in these difficult times”
