His roles have included private and public sector, including General Manager of Membership Relations and Sector Head for Retail & Manufacturing at the FTA, being both a member of the Business Board and Senior Commercial teams. Previously he was at Nottinghamshire County Council as a Technical officer in the Highways & Transportation team.

Currently sitting on the FORS and CLOCS governance boards . Knowledge in dangerous goods and lifting cranes.
Alison Moriarty – BIO
After working in H&S for many years Alison noted that there was a massive disparity between the way that on site and on road safety was addressed. Following this she focused on working with drivers and managers, to reduce fleet risk and thereby reduce collisions, injuries, costs and insurance premiums. She has worked in construction, civil engineering, and utilities and has been presented with many industry awards for her success in road safety. This culminated in her being inducted into the Fleet News Hall of Fame in 2025. Alison now works in a consultancy role, helping clients to lower their fleet risk.
David Higginbottom – BIO
David has dedicated his entire career to the transport and logistics industry, specialising in compliance, health and safety, and training. Currently chief executive of Driver First Assist (DFA), an initiative he launched at the Commercial Vehicle Show in 2014. DFA collaborates with the emergency services to train drivers in incident management and life-saving first aid at road traffic collisions. DFA is supported by the Department for Transport and delivers training to National Highways, DVSA, and fleet operators across all sectors. David holds an MBA from Manchester Business School and is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Logistics and Transport.
Ross Moorlock – BIO
Ross Moorlock is Chief Executive of Brake, the road safety charity, where he has led a transformative period of growth since taking on the role in April 2023. He joined Brake in 2017 and has previously held senior positions including Chief Operating Officer and Business Development Director, drawing on a strong background in professional services to drive strategic and operational development. Under Ross’s leadership, Brake has more than doubled in size, growing from 37 staff in 2023 to over 70 by 2025. This expansion has significantly increased the charity’s capacity to deliver impact – particularly through Brake’s National Road Victim Service, which now supports over 2,000 families a year following bereavement or serious injury in road crashes. Ross has played a key role in Brake’s engagement with the fleet sector, having led the launch of Brake’s Fleet Champions campaign in 2019 – a global initiative to celebrate and support best practice in road risk management. He also hosts Brake’s Annual UK Fleet Champions Awards, recognising excellence and innovation among fleet operators and suppliers working to save lives on roads. Brake’s broader strategic priorities include campaigning for evidence-based solutions to prevent road crashes and reduce harm, and delivering education programmes to improve knowledge, build skills, and shift attitudes around road safety and active travel. Outside of work, Ross is a husband, dad to two young children, and a passionate cyclist and runner – bringing the same energy and commitment to his personal life as he does to leading change in road safety and road victim support.

Prof Tony Travers will look at some of the policy impacts from NIC increases, changes to the planning system and Donald Trump on transport and logistics as well as future public policy and how it may shift towards more trade (particularly with Europe, Canada and other places) and more self-sufficiency (defence, components, food). Tony will also look at where we are in terms of environmental policies as the cost of net zero meets demands for lower inflation and economic growth and where should domestic transport policy be heading?

Tony Travers is a Visiting Professor in LSE Department of Government, Associate Dean of the LSE School of Public Policy and Director of LSE London. His key research interests include local and regional government, elections and public service reform. Professor Travers’ knowledge is frequently sought by policymakers and he has advised a range of select committees and think tanks. He also provides expert analysis for broadcast and print media, regularly appearing on major television and radio networks.
Tony is chair of the British Government@LSE research group and regularly provides political analysis on the LSE Government YouTube channel. He has also written several books, including ‘London’s Boroughs at 50’.
Theo has over 30 years’ experience working within the Transportation sector and brings a wide experience of successfully project delivery working within complex stakeholder environments. Theo is a Director at Arcadis with a focus on EV Strategy Development, Fleet Electrification and alternative fuels, Future Mobility, AAM infrastructure, and surface transport improvement projects. Prior to joining Arcadis, Theo was the Sustainable Transport Manager at Heathrow Airport for 11 years, leading the planning, development and delivery of the Surface Access Strategy and before this Theo worked in Local Government for over 13 years.

Formerly a board member of ACFO, James became a Board Member of The AFP upon it’s inception in 2020. James has over 20 years experience having worked in various roles for the IFC Group and is passionate about championing best practice in the fleet and mobility industry.
Ric Baird – BIO
Ric is a Board Director and company secretary of the AFP. With a career in the motor industry spanning more than 30 years to date, Ric has all-round experience as a ‘supplier’ in the fleet industry. In the last three decades, Ric has worked in fleet sales for a dealer group and OEM, as a General Manager within a dealer group and is now the Business Development Manager at Marshall Leasing.

Michael has spent 18 years in the energy and commercial vehicle sectors, building and deploying new technologies and analysing complex energy problems. He now leads Flexible Power Systems (FPS). FPS is a software solutions and charge point services company that works across all classes of commercial vehicle and at every stage of the electrification journey from planning and build to operations and maintenance.
